Is It Jamb Or School That offers Admission?

This is one question that took me years to answer. To some, it is Jamb that gives admission. Others believe that it is school that actually offers admission. If I may ask you, is it the institutions or Jamb that offers admission? The answer is both.

How to check your Jamb result again:

The joint Admission and matriculation board has released the result for those who wrote Jamb 2017. If you could see your result online earlier, you may want to check again. All you need to do is visit jamb portal and login with your username and password; then click on check result in your Jamb profile.

Jamb 2017 Admission Status:

As from August/September 2017, Jamb will start releasing Admission lists. When you are finally admitted, you can then proceed to print your Jamb 2017 Admission letter.

Jamb Original result slip:

It is true that you have checked and printed your normal Jamb result slip. But that is not what you will use for your University 2017 clearance. Your University or Polytechnic of choice will require you Origin clearance during physical clearance. Usually, Jamb sells scratch cards to enable you print Original Jamb result.

If you scored very low in Jamb, it is not the end of life. Also, it doesn’t mean that you cannot gain admission to study your desired course. Jamb to set examination for those who had computer issues:

Jamb has promised to set new computer based examination for those who missed the main exam because of technical issue.

2017 Direct entry registration and screening date:

JAMB 2017 DE: Jamb direct entry registration and screening has been announced and confirmed by the Joint Admission And Matriculation board. The new gist about this year’s Jamb direct is that every candidate will be thoroughly screened by their school of choice.
For DIRECT ENTRY, the application will be on sale from Sunday 23 April, 2017.

Jamb Exam Center And Slip Reprint

Jamb has started sending examination centers and dates for 2017 utme applicants. Click here to see your exam date. 

STEPS FOR 2017 REGISTRATION AND APPLICATION

DOCUMENTS NEEDED:

i. Each candidate must have personal e-mail address and mobile phone number.
ii. Each candidate is to use his/her functional and valid personal e-mail address. The system would reject at the point of registration any already used e-mail address.
iii. Each candidate must personally create a JAMB profile.
iv. Payment for JAMB’s E-PIN-registration and the recommended reading text is done at the banks and NIPOST. Banks have also agreed to make these services available at CBT centres and JAMB State Offices.
v. Each Candidate should visit any accredited CBT centre with his/her personal details, the profile and evidence of payment.
vi. The CBT centre or JAMB State Office, supplies, at no extra cost, the prescribed reading text and the CD containing:
a) e-brochure showing guidelines on admission detailing list of tertiary institutions and available programmes of study.
b) Syllabus (e-syllabus) for the examination.
c) Step by step guide on completion of the application form.
d) A video messages from the Registrar of JAMB and a demo on how to use eight (8) keys for UTME examination without mouse. (For candidates with little familiarity with Computers).
vii. Each Candidate is to complete the online application form by supplying the required details such as name, e-mail address, L.G.A., academic qualification, etc.
viii. At the CBT centre, Candidate’s ten fingers biometric and image will be captured and uploaded.
ix. O/L and/or A/L grades are to be provided by candidates. Candidates who are awaiting result should supply the result online as soon as the results are available on JAMB’s portal.
x. Each Candidate is to collect his e-slip at the end of registration as evidence of registration.
There will be no offline registration, as all the accredited CBT centres have been empowered for real life online registration.
No candidate should register at any centre other than the accredited CBT centre and JAMB State office. Any candidate who is registered outside approved centres will be identified and disqualified.

    ORDER OF CHOICE OF INSTITUTIONS

On the 2017 registration platform, Candidates are to note that their 1 choice can be a College of Education, University, Innovation Enterprise Institutes, Polytechnics/Monotechnics, NDA (Nigerian Defence Academy) or Nigeria Police Academy.
You are also allowed to choose Universities as your first and second respectively. Whether Federal or State.

Jamb 2017 EXAM DATE And CENTERS

The 2017 UTME will commence on 13 May and end on 20 May, 2017. Ensure to go there on time.
The venue of the examination will be at any centre in the candidate’s chosen examination town. The main examination center will be sent to you via mail.

JAMB 2017 REGISTRATION FEE

Registration fee for the 2017 Unified Tertiary
Matriculation Examination or Direct Entry is Five Thousand Naira (₦5,000) only.
Candidates are also, as usual, to pay Five Hundred Naira (₦500) only to obtain the reading text- “In Dependence” for UTME candidates and “The Last Days at Forcados High School” for Direct Entry Candidates.
Candidates should note that E-PINS being purchased are tied to individual profile and are not transferable. Candidates are advised to keep as confidential their security details such as registration numbers, password, e-mail addresses and E-Pins.

OPTIONAL 2017 UTME-MOCK-EXAMINATION

The Board will mount a mock examination in all the accredited CBT centres to prepare and familiarize INTERESTED Candidates with the CBT environment.
The mock examination is free. That is to say, you are not to pay anything. No Association or body is permitted to run any mock examination on behalf of JAMB.

JAMB REGISTRATION CENTERS

In line with the Board’s regulated registration exercise, only the accredited Computer Based Test Centres and JAMB States and FCT Offices will be allowed to register candidates.
This is to avoid exploitation, off-line registration, mismatch of candidates’ particulars and other registration-irregularities.

Finally, Jamb 2017 direct entry form is now on sale.  If you have ever wondered about where to buy JAMB direct entry form, when JAMB direct entry form is closing and the price for 2017 JAMB direct entry registration form, this article is for you.
Here, I will share all Jamb direct entry latest news updates you need to be updated about. I will also answer some hot questions on Jamb direct entry form 2017.

How Much Is Jamb Direct Entry Form?

Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Direct Entry form for the year 2017 is now on sale and the price of Jamb direct entry form is N5,000 Only.
JAMB Mandatory Textbook For Direct Entry ‘The Last Days at Forcados High School‘ is #500 Only.

Why Direct Entry?

Normally, those who gained admission into the university via direct entry will start from part 2 or 200 level in their university of choice provided they were offered admission. This is the edge they have over their UTME Counterpart.

What Are The Requirements For Jamb 2017 Direct Entry?

All applicants must possess either of the diploma certificates listed below:
  1. A minimum of five (5) GCE/WASCE credits at not more than two sittings with at least two Principal or Advanced level C.E. and the others.
  2. Two passes at the IJMB Advanced Level Examination, Cambridge moderated Schools of Basic Studies Terminal Examination, JUPEB or Institute of Baccalaureate from recognised institutions with SSCE/GCE, NTS/NBC credits equivalent in three other subjects (SUBJECT TO UNIVERSITY REQUIREMENTS).
  3. Passes in two major subjects in the NCE with S.C.E., NTC/NBC credits or equivalents in THREE other subjects (mainly for Education Courses) and ND. Education may be accepted as a third A’ Level subject for those taking courses in Education.
  4. Minimum of lower credit grade in National Diploma or National Innovation Diploma including the O’Level requirements.
  5. Candidates are to note that they will be required to provide their JAMB registration number which they used in gaining admission to NCE, Diploma etc for Direct Entry admission.

HOW TO APPLY FOR 2017 JAMB DIRECT ENTRY.

  1. Registration fee for Jamb 2017 Direct Entry is ₦5,000Plus ₦500 to obtain the reading text- ‘‘The Last Days at Forcados High School’‘ .
  2. Candidates should note that e-PINS being purchased are tied to individual profile and are not transferable.
  3. Candidates are advised to keep as confidential their security details such as registration numbers, password/numbers of ATM Cards, e-mail addresses and E-Pins.

  1. Each candidate must personally create a JAMB profile on the JAMB portal by clicking here.

  1. Each Candidate is to collect his e-slip at the end of registration as evidence of registration.
  2. As it is the practice, centres are allowed to charge not more than ₦700 as registration.

Jamb Direct Entry Registration Closing Date:

The Jamb direct entry closing date has not been specified by Jamb. However, I predict that the Jamb 2017 Direct entry closing date will be June 2017.

When Is 2017 Jamb Direct Entry Examination Date:

It is no news that Jamb Utme examination has started. Jamb direct entry examination date will be fully announced by different institution since Jamb have given them the freedom to screen their candidates.

JAMB Excellent News: Meet 15-year-old boy who aced His JAMB. He scored 315!

An excited reader, Ebuka Ngige has shared with us his JAMB Results, where he aced it totally. He scored a total of 315 marks in the just concluded JAMB exam which ended on Saturday, 20th of May.
Ebuka revealed to us that he wrote his First JAMB exam when he was 14.. and scored a total of 280 marks.. But he couldn’t get admission to study his dream course, Medicine, at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, because he wasn’t of age.
But now, that he’s of age, he completely aced his exam, having a total of 315 marks! Ebuka is just 15 years.. He’d turn 16 on the 4th of October.
Ebuka wrote his Jamb Exam at Grace Polytechnic,in Surulere, Lagos. The breakdown of his JAMB Results is as follows:

On the other hand, If you score around the Jamb cut off mark, you may also not get admitted as a result of competition.
This is a good reasons to change your course or school of choice.

2. Lost Of Interest In The Study Course Or Institution

Some candidates say, “I don’t want to study in the University I chose earlier, in fact, I have lost interest in the choice of course I put in during Jamb registration.”
This could be that you never liked the school or your parents asked you to change the course.
In addition, it could just be that you have a Jamb score that can take you to a better school.

3. You Made A Mistake When Filling Jamb Form And Subject Combinations

So many persons reported to me that the wrong institution was chosen for them during registration.
For others, they had issues in their Jamb subject combinationsand could not fix it when Jamb gave room for correction of details.
If this is your situation you may want to change to your desired institution. Change of course and institution form gives you room to  do this.

How To Change Your Jamb School And Course Of Choice For Jamb 2017

As usual , Jamb has announced the date for commencement of 2017 change of institution and the forms are now made available for sale. You can now proceed to change your course.
According to the Jamb news update I received, this process can only be done at the accredited CBT Centres.
Before you head out to check if this process has started at an accredited CBT Centre around you, please ensure the following;
  • That you know exactly the Changes of Course/Institution you would like to make changes to.
  • Please ensure you do your research to ensure that the school you are changing to does not usually cut-off higher than your score.
  • That you can change one or all your courses/institutions at the same time.
  • That once the form is submitted, you can no longer make any changes again (or else the system has changed)
  • That you select a Course/Institution that aligns with your subject combination. If you don’t do this, your school will screen you out. .
  • There may be a limited number of schools or courses you can change to, so be sure to have 3 or 4 options, just in case the one you want to change to is not available.
  • You could be charged about N2,500 to effect this change
Jamb change of institution 2017 would be done at approved cbt centers through your Jamb profile .
Remember, The Joint Admission And Matriculation Board (Jamb) no longer has business with cyber cafes.
